Well SU these past three weeks have been incredible, but it’s finally time for me to say see you soon. For anyone that doesn’t know I’m going abroad in mid-February, so I had the opportunity to work on campus for the first three weeks; giving me the chance to make some extra money and allowing me to cling on to those individuals I’m going to miss so much. When I’m actually abroad I’m going to have new experiences and places to fill this void inside me, but right now as I sit here and reflect it’s kind of scary. Scary to think when I come back to campus Meghan won’t be there to cuddle with me as we watch a movie, or Emily won’t be there to talk my ear off (which at the time is slightly annoying but I know I’m going to miss like crazy). Then there’s the people that aren’t seniors but I’m not going to see until next August and I guess it’s just odd to think.
My Kiwi adventure is just around the corner now though and I’m about to meet a bunch of new people, so leaving behind those here is going to be rough. This week I decided to photograph places on campus I’m going to miss when I’m abroad. I also want to share some places I’m excited to go to soon! The first place I’m excited to go to is the Museum of New Zealand-Te Papa Tongarewa. This is New Zealand’s national museum and is located in Wellington and I’ve only heard good things, so be sure to stay tuned for when I go. I also would love to go to the Botanic Gardens, Queenstown-Milford Track, and I want to check out an All Blacks game and for anyone that hasn’t heard off the All Blacks it is New Zealand’s National Rugby team.
NZ Fun Fact: The All Blacks are famously known for preforming the Haka, which in simplest terms is a term for a Maori dance. The All Blacks have been preforming it since 1888. If you want to watch the Haka check out the video below.
